Shakes versus Shakes---Not All are Created Equal

I love shakes.  I just finished my morning shake.  For most of my life I have enjoyed gulping down an extra large strawberry shake from DQ and want more.  When I drive to Soldotna Alaska I stop at the Sterling Tesoro and get a soft serve ice cream in a waffle cone and then a few hours later go to the DQ in Soldotna Alaska and get my traditional extra jumbo-large strawberry shake and down it without much hesitation.  Besides admitting I love strawberry shakes I admit I just plain-old love ice cream, period.

Now here’s the strange thing.  I haven’t had any ice cream for almost 5 weeks since I started Dr. Brady’s weight loss program.  I haven’t even been craving it.  However, I have had satisfying strawberry shakes provided by the food from the weight loss program.  Sure no DQ, but just as satisfying.  That is a whopping caloric difference of 770 calories.  It took a while to get deep enough into the DQ “nutrition” guide but I finally found the large strawberry shake at 840 calories.  My shake from Dr Brady’s Nutrition plan is 70 calories.  That’s right, just 70 calories.  I have one every morning as my first of six meals for the day. It fills me up for 2 ½ hours.  I know it’s hard to believe but it really works for me.

But you have to know the secret to make it like the beloved DQ monster shake. For the first few days on my new weight loss program, I wasn’t necessarily enjoying the shakes. They were too watery to me.  So I experimented.  Now they are large and of similar consistency to the DQ cholesterol-bullet.

Here is how I make it; 7 ounces of cold filtered water in a blender.  Add one full cup of ice and the powdered contents of my meal packet.  Put the Blender on chop to reduce all the ice to slurpy-like consistency.  Blend on high for an additional 30 seconds.  While blending, you can add a little more water only if the mixer has stopped rotating top to bottom.  Pour into a large glass and enjoy slowly.  Cold and very much like a “normal” shake.

So it’s a no brainer for me; 840 calories versus 70 calories with similar satisfaction factor.  That’s a secret to success for me on this wonderful Weight-Loss program; enjoying food that fills me up while reducing my calorie intake and quality. Thus far as of today I have lost a total of 25 lbs in less than 5 weeks on Dr. Brady’s Weight-Loss Program.  My blood sugar has been consistent. My body is feeling better than it has in years.

Pancake and Syrup --- Yum!

http://weightlosspowerusers.com/content/video-testimonials

I just had my pancake meal for the day. That's right; just one good sized pancake fills me up for 2 & 1/2 hours. I have special syrup provided by the Weight Loss Program. On my second month of food I ordered a whole box of syrup.

It tastes sweet but isn't...I'm not sure how they do it.  I used to cover my pancakes with thick oozing syrup but now need just a bit to give my mouth the sensation of sweetness. Its like my mouth has been trained by the my Food Program to appreciate tiny taste differences. I even use a little bit of syrup on my oatmeal to "sweeten" it up. Enjoy!
